MOUNT PLEASANT, SCJRS Coding School has relocated to a new, state-of-the-art building on Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant. The software development school’s approximately 2,000-square-foot suite in the Shem Creek Executive Center on Coleman Boulevard features a flexible classroom space, offices, and a student lounge. Adjacent to Shem Creek Park, the location offers easy access to the park’s boardwalk, water sports and dining.

“We are excited about the new, high-tech learning environment that we’re able to offer our students,” said Tom Wilson, chief technology innovation officer of Tabula Rasa HealthCare (TRHC), parent company of JRS Coding School, and the school’s head instructor. Wilson, who led the initiative to establish the school continued, “Since JRS opened its doors, our goal has remained the same — we want to help grow skilled software developers across the tech industry.”

JRS Coding School was established in 2016 to increase local developer talent and to meet current and future software development demands in the marketplace. Since its inception, three cohorts have completed the 12-week, full time JavaScript class. During the boot camp style program, participants are introduced to software life cycle training, learn how to build full-stack web applications using JavaScript and become proficient in coding at a junior professional level.

JRS Coding School is the only licensed post-secondary institution in Charleston focused exclusively on teaching individuals how to code. The school is accepting applications for its fall session, which begins on Monday, September 18. The fall class will be the first to attend class entirely in the new building, start to finish.

Along with its parent company, Tabula Rasa HealthCare (TRHC), a New-Jersey based company whose software development unit is also housed in the Shem Creek Executive Center, JRS Coding School is hosting an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 7 at the new building. Attendees can meet JRS Coding School instructors and tour the new school and TRHC’s offices. The open house is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., with the ribbon cutting by Mount Pleasant officials at 4:30 p.m.
