MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — 29% of 2019 graduates in the Charleston County School District said they planned to attend a two year tech school, according to district officials.
“Starting work part-time in high school,” said Pate Bryant, a 2019 Wando High School graduate. He plans to skip college altogether since he landed a coding job. “The longer you use a language, the more valuable you are with it, the more people will pay you to use it.”
He said he doesn’t see a need to attend college, and the CEO of his company and his father, Patrick Bryant, said Lowcountry coders average $50,000 a year starting out.
