Q: How long at the company?

A: One week.

Q: Where in Charleston do you live?

A: Mount Pleasant.

Q: What drew you to working in Charleston?

A: I spent the last 10+ years working in San Francisco Bay Area startups. As more and more people started to move to that area, it started to change, and became less and less a place that I wanted to spend time. It was becoming increasingly expensive, overly crowded, and less friendly. As I started to look for my next home, I chose Charleston because it is affordable, the people are friendly, the weather is great, and the technology / startup opportunities here are amazing! There are incredibly smart entrepreneurs, creating fantastic companies here, that are solving some real problems. I wanted to be a part of that!

Q: Why do you think Charleston is a burgeoning tech sector?

A: The quality of life is amazing here, and it is drawing some very smart, very creative, very talented people to this region, and they are creating fantastic opportunities in the technology industry. The people in the tech industry are incredibly supportive of each other, and do what they can to help each other succeed. I remember when I was interviewing, that someone told me that if it didn't work out at that company, she would do what she could to introduce me around to other people in the technology industry here. You would never see that happen in the Bay Area.

Q: Best advice to those looking to move to Charleston for work?

A: Take advantage of the resources through the Charleston Digital Corridor. They have done a great job of putting all of the opportunities in one place for job seekers. Network, network, network! But most importantly, come and visit. You'll see exactly what makes this city so appealing!

Q: What does Charleston Open Source mean to you? (In 5 words or less)

A: Collaboration, sharing, and networking.

Q: What's your motivation for working in Charleston?

A: I came here looking for a challenging job in technology, but also for an opportunity to get more plugged into to a small, close knit community of people working on solving the same kinds of challenges I wanted to solve. And I came here looking for a great work-life balance, in a slower-paced, more supportive environment.

Q: What does Charleston tech community have to offer over other cities?

A: I think that Charleston tech community offers a lot of room for growth and opportunity, coupled with an incredible community. I am also looking forward to a better commute!

Q: It's the weekend - what do you do in Charleston?

A: I go to the beach! I have fallen in love with the beauty and tranquility of all of the beaches here. And then I wrap up the day checking out one of Charleston's many amazing restaurants!

Q: Your not-to-miss spot in Charleston?

A: I've only been in Charleston for a week, so I haven't narrowed it down yet, but I am spending every opportunity I can, visiting everything, going everywhere, so I can find that not-to-miss spot!

Q: Describe living in Charleston in ONE word.

A: Perfection!

Q: Favorite Charleston event?

A: Definitely the Charleston Wine & Food Festival! I can't wait to experience it next year!

Q: What's the most exciting thing happening in Charleston?

A: I am excited about all of the revitalization that's happening here. It is a cosmopolitan city, with such a rich heritage, and fun mix of people. I'm excited to see all of the new tech opportunities that are being developed, and helping the city grow even more.

Q: Favorite Charleston experience?
