A: Since May 2014.
A: Blackbaud and the beauty of Charleston. I worked for one of Blackbaud's customers in NC. One day I came here for training and fell in love with Charleston and Blackbaud. I also knew this would be an awesome place for my husband to flourish, who is a photographer, so we set a goal to work our way here. We haven't regretted a moment of it!
A: I think companies like Blackbaud and BenefitFocus laid a foundation for the tech sector and attracted people from all over the country who never left Charleston. A lot of them started their own tech and start up companies, often with assistance and guidance from other organizations like the Charleston Digital Corridor. You have very passionate people who love what they do and where they live. That energy sparks growth!
A: It's not hard to find motivation for working in Charleston. Not only have I had the opportunity to grow my tech career over the past 10 years, but I live in one of the most amazing cities. It's beautiful, weather is amazing, and so much to do from the beach to taking a tour around downtown while soaking in the history of the city. It's also a place that is flourishing in the arts, so it allows my husband to grow his career as well. Shows you the variety of Charleston when it can have both the tech and art industries thriving.
A: We have two children (11years old and 22 months) and my parents live here as well. We like to be "tourists in our own town", whether it is a trip to the beach, eating at a restaurant with a breathtaking view, or finding a quiet spot on James Island to watch the sail boats. We never have a weekend where there isn't something to do or somewhere to go!
A: As cliche as it sounds, The Battery. I love sitting on the benches in the park and soaking in everything. The sun peaks through all the trees, people walking their dogs, and kids laughing in the background. And occasionally you will see a dolphin out in the distance. It's like a scene from a movie.
A: James Island Festival of Lights. We go about every year and love it. We always try to bring family and friends who are visiting and they are always amazed by all the displays! Although, you can't go wrong with any event that has oysters!
A: The growth and recognition it is receiving all over the country. From Charleston to Summerville, you are seeing economic development in technology, the arts, tourism, and large companies like Boeing. It is very exciting to be a part of this growth!
A: One day we took a family trip to Isle of Palms. We thought it was just a normal day at the beach and then we saw the SC Aquarium setting up a perimeter, so we walked over to check it out. They were releasing turtles back into the ocean and we were able to watch. It was such an awesome and moving experience!
A: See more people from Ohio than anywhere else. I think we have more Ohioans than Ohio. :)
